The Centric Learning Approach

April 3, 2026

Centric Learning believes that education should be engaging, meaningful, and tailored to each student’s unique needs. Our approach to personalized learning is built on two foundational components: project-based learning and competency-based assessment. These elements work together to ensure students not only understand the content but can also apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.

Project-Based Learning is at the heart of our approach. In this model, students work on a project over an extended period of time, anywhere from a week to a full semester. These projects engage learners in solving real-world problems or answering complex questions, helping them develop critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Students demonstrate their knowledge and abilities by creating a public product or presentation for a real audience, making learning both authentic and motivating. By exploring authentic, engaging challenges, students connect their studies directly to the world around them.

Complementing this, Competency-Based Assessment ensures that learning is focused on mastery rather than memorization. Students submit their work for evaluation and receive constructive feedback from teachers. A unique feature of this approach is the opportunity to revise and resubmit work based on that feedback. This iterative process encourages continual improvement, helping students refine their skills and deepen their understanding until they reach a higher level of competency. This emphasis on skills, abilities, and knowledge allows learners to progress at their own pace while building confidence and expertise in each subject area.

Together, project-based learning and competency-based assessment create a powerful framework for personalized education. Students are not only prepared to meet academic standards but are also equipped with the critical thinking and real-world problem-solving skills they will need to succeed in college, career, and life. Centric Learning’s approach ensures that every student is challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
